British Heart Foundation Duchess of York Project

-Winners

In March- June 2017 I had the honour of being selected to take part in a project ran by the Duchess of York in collaboration with the British Heart foundation. The brief was to create a wearable product that raises awareness of heart disease in women. There were 5 interdisciplinary teams of one textiles student and one product design student. My partner and I designed a pair of leggings named "Compressure" with inbuilt sensors to monitor heart rate and blood pressure, where the data can then be sent to a smartphone, along with inbuilt compression stockings to aid issues such as DVT.

This was a fantastic project to be involved with as I think interdisciplinary projects are a really great way of pushing design forward. It was interesting seeing the similarities and differences in the way we worked coming from different disciplines and I learnt a lot from the other students as all the teams were strong.
